12p Friday to 12p on Sunday
King Pine Disc Golf:
178 Greenville Rd, Shirley, ME
Object of play — Complete each hole in the fewest throws, starting at the tee and finishing when the disc comes to rest in the target.
Throwing order — Tee order is by score (lowest first). After teeing, the player farthest from the target throws next.
Lie & stance — Each throw must be made from directly behind the lie (the marked spot where the previous throw landed). One supporting point must be on the line of play behind the marker at release.
Play it where it lies — Players may not alter the course or move obstacles to improve a throw, unless allowed by relief rules.
Obstacles & relief — Relief is allowed from unsafe or harmful obstacles. Mandatory routes, out‑of‑bounds, and restricted areas must be followed as marked. Penalties apply when violated.
Out of bounds — If OB, the player throws from the designated relief area or last in‑bounds position and adds one penalty throw.
Completing the hole — A hole is complete when the disc comes to rest supported by the target (basket or chains).
Scoring — Total throws plus any penalty throws determine the score for each hole. Lowest total wins.
Courtesy — Players must not distract others, must maintain pace of play, and must call clear rules violations. Repeated courtesy violations can incur penalties.
Misplays — Playing the wrong hole, skipping a mandatory, or using an incorrect lie results in penalty throws depending on the situation.
Aim low and smooth — Flat, controlled throws stay straighter and avoid surprise tree bonks.
Use the right disc — Putters for control, mids for accuracy, drivers for distance.
Play the skip — Hard ground can give you bonus distance if you land at the right angle.
Read the wind — Headwinds lift discs; tailwinds push them down. Adjust your angle.
Commit to the putt — A confident short throw beats a timid long one every time.
Stay behind your lie — It keeps your form clean and your score card honest.
Take smart relief — If you’re stuck in a bush, take the legal step‑out. Your ankles will thank you.
Watch your cardmates — You’ll learn lines, angles, and sometimes what not to do.
Keep discs dry — A towel can save your grip and your dignity.
Celebrate the chaos — Trees happen. Laugh, reset, and throw again.
Trust the Purple Wind — It’s unpredictable but usually benevolent. Usually.
High‑five a stranger — It improves accuracy by 12% (spiritually).
Name your disc — A disc with a name flies truer. Science cannot disprove this.
Respect the Moosehead Trees — They hunger for discs but reward bravery.
Putt with joy — Joy has a surprisingly stable flight path.
